Ireland: Sixth round of sanctions against Russia must include oil embargo

Ireland is in favor of including a Russian oil embargo in the sixth round of EU sanctions.

"We strongly support a maximalist approach in the context of sanctions against Russia as a deterrent to the continuation of this war. We believe that we should go beyond what has now been collectively agreed by the EU and include an oil embargo in the sixth round of sanctions," Minister of Foreign Affairs and Defence of Ireland Simon Coveney said at a joint briefing with Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Dmytro Kuleba in Kyiv, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

As reported, on April 7, the European Parliament voted to demand a full embargo on imports of Russian oil, coal, nuclear fuel, and gas.
