Slain Kharkiv entrepreneur allegedly supervised financial flows of city utilities

Kharkiv city businessman Yuri Dement,who was shot dead on the morning at the third city cemetery near the grave of his mother, was allegedly in charge over financial flows of the city utilities companies.

One of the deputies of Kharkiv city council told Ukrinform.

"Yuri Dement was a non-public person. As a businessman and owner of the businesses, he is not listed in the state registry of legal entities. However, in narrow circles he is known as a jewelry factory owner, as well as a retail network of jewelry stores and a network of laundries owner. He is also rumored to supervise the financial flows of local utilities enterprises, and their number reaches 70 companies," the deputy said.

According to him, a number of companies could be owned by the relatives of the deceased, including his father - Borys Dement.

Earlier, Ukrinform reported that at about 9.00 the Jewish cemetery №3, 52-year-old businessman from Kharkiv Yuri Dement was shot dead from an assault rifle fire. He was famous as the "right hand" and the "brains" of the city mayor Hennady Kernes.

A criminal case has been opened under the article "premeditated murder." Forensics experts are working at the scene.
