Russian attacks cause new power outages in frontline regions, says Ukrenergo

“The enemy continues to attack the energy infrastructure of Ukraine’s frontline regions. As a result of the shelling, there are new power outages as of this morning in the Donetsk, Dnipropetrovsk, Zaporizhzhia, Kharkiv, and Sumy regions. Emergency repair work has already begun wherever safety conditions permit,” the statement reads.

As of 9:30 a.m. on Thursday, electricity consumption is 1.9% higher than the previous day. The downward trend in consumption is due to hot weather across most regions, prompting consumers to use air conditioners in cooling mode.

Ukrenergo emphasizes that a rational approach to electricity consumption remains necessary. In particular, the power system operator advises shifting active electricity consumption to the period from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., and limiting the use of high-power electrical appliances from 6:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m.

As reported, no electricity consumption restrictions are planned in Ukraine on May 7.
