SBU strikes Perm oil refinery, pumping station in Russia for third time

On May 8, operators of the Alpha special operations center of the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) carried out overnight strikes against the Lukoil-Permnefteorgsintez oil refinery and the Perm linear production and dispatch station.

According to Ukrinform, the SBU reported this.

The Lukoil-Permnefteorgsintez refinery is one of Russia’s largest oil-processing facilities. The plant supplies fuel both to the civilian sector and to the Russian military.

The Transneft-owned Perm linear production and dispatch station is described as a strategically important hub within Russia’s main oil transportation system. Oil is distributed from the station in four directions, including to the Perm refinery.

Both facilities are located more than 1,500 kilometers from Ukraine’s border.

According to the SBU, the latest drone attack caused a fire at one of the refinery’s AVT units – a key component used for primary oil refining. At the oil pumping station, one of the reservoirs was hit.

The Security Service of Ukraine said it continues to systematically target Russia’s oil infrastructure, which it described as one of the main sources of funding for Moscow’s war against Ukraine.

“Strikes on such facilities not only reduce oil refining and transportation volumes, but also destabilize the enemy’s military logistics, complicate fuel supplies for invading forces, and force the Kremlin to spend billions on emergency repairs of strategic facilities deep in the rear,” the agency said.

Earlier, on April 30, SBU drones also attacked the Lukoil-Permnefteorgsintez refinery and the Perm dispatch station. Preliminary reports indicated that the refinery’s AVT-4 primary oil refining unit had been damaged.

On April 29, SBU drones struck the Perm linear production and dispatch station, causing a large-scale fire.

On May 7, Ukraine’s Defense Forces again targeted the Lukoil-Permnefteorgsintez refinery. This time, a gasoline isomerization unit designed to increase the octane rating of light gasoline fractions, as well as the AVT-2 primary oil refining unit, caught fire.
