The counterintelligence of the Security Service of Ukraine has detained an FSB agent in the Cherkasy region who was coordinating Russian missile and drone attacks on the region’s energy infrastructure.

According to Ukrinform, this was reported by the SSU.

According to the case file, a local student recruited by the enemy was coordinating the airstrikes. He came to the attention of Russian intelligence officers while searching for easy money on Telegram channels.

In exchange for promises of quick side jobs, the suspect agreed to track the location of one of the key energy facilities for the FSB.

To do this, the suspect identified the location of the critical infrastructure facility and photographed the area under the guise of taking a walk.

He then stored the intelligence data on his smartphone to prepare a summary report for his handler from the Russian intelligence service.

SSU officers caught the suspect at the initial stage of his intelligence activities and detained him in a student dormitory, where he was preparing an intelligence report for the Russians.

During searches, investigators seized the detainee’s computer and smartphone, which contained evidence of his collaboration with the FSB.

SSU investigators notified the agent of his status as a suspect under Part 2 of Article 111 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (treason committed under martial law).
