Russian shelling damages over 50% of high-rise buildings in Sloviansk community
Vadym Liakh, head of the Sloviansk City Military Administration, reported this in an interview with Ukrinform.
“Unfortunately, we have suffered civilian casualties. Over the entire period of the military conflict [full-scale war], 81 people have been killed, including 4 children. Additionally, 402 people were wounded, including children,” Liakh said. He added that in April 2026 alone, 22 civilians were wounded and one person was killed.
The head of the CMA also reported that during this period, enemy shelling in the Sloviansk community damaged more than 50% of high-rise buildings, over 10% of private homes, and a quarter of infrastructure facilities—hospitals, kindergartens, educational institutions, and so on. “They have been damaged to varying degrees, and some have been destroyed,” Liakh added.
He noted, however, that damaged facilities are constantly being restored following the shelling. Electricians are even traveling outside the city to areas close to the front lines. Utility workers are also operating under extremely difficult conditions, as water supply facilities are now located five to seven kilometers from the front line.
As reported, the population of the Sloviansk community in Donetsk region as of April 27, 2026, is approximately 47,000; before the full-scale invasion, it was 110,000. Enemy shelling occurs every day, sometimes several times a day using various weapons. The evacuation continues.
