Latvia to allocate EUR 10M for Ukraine within PURL

On Tuesday, February 17, the Latvian government decided to allocate EUR 10 million to support Ukraine under the NATO initiative called PURL.

Delfi stated this in an article, citing Latvian Prime Minister Evika Silina, Ukrinform reports.

According to her, these funds will be directed toward the procurement of weapons and equipment to help Ukraine defend itself.

"The funding will be used to purchase military equipment from the United States, our strategic partner, ensuring reliable and high-quality support," Silina noted.

It is stated that Latvia’s contribution will become part of its annual military support for Ukraine and will be provided in the amount of 0.25% of its gross domestic product, reaffirming Latvia’s support for Ukraine.

As Ukrinform previously reported, Sweden will contribute $100 million to the "Prioritized Ukraine Requirements List" (PURL) initiative. Together with the Netherlands, Norway, and the United Kingdom, Sweden will finance a joint support package for Ukraine totaling $500 million.
