Russian artillery strike kills woman in Kherson
According to Ukrinform, the Kherson Regional Prosecutor's Office stated this on Telegram.
"Under the procedural supervision of the Kherson District Prosecutor's Office, a pre-trial investigation has been launched into the commission of a war crime that resulted in a person's death," the statement said.
According to investigators, at around 04:00 on January 27, 2026, servicemen of the Russian armed forces struck Kherson with rocket artillery. As a result of the strike, a 72-year-old woman who was inside her house was killed.
In addition, according to the RMA, at approximately 07:30 the Russians attacked Kachkarivka in the Milove community with a UAV. The strike damaged a private house, shattering windows and damaging the roof and furniture. No information about casualties has been reported.
The Kherson City Military Administration also reported an increase in the number of people injured on January 26, with two women requiring medical assistance. One of them is a 59-year-old medical worker who sustained a mine-blast injury and an open back wound. She received the necessary assistance and was released for outpatient treatment. Another injured woman, aged 55, sustained a mine-blast injury and shrapnel wounds to her left elbow and thigh at around 08:00 yesterday in Sadove. Her condition is mild, and she will continue treatment on an outpatient basis.
Earlier in the evening, Russian occupiers struck multi-story residential buildings in the Korabelnyi district with multiple launch rocket systems. One of the shells hit an apartment directly, breaking through the floor into a neighboring flat and damaging walls, furniture, and the heating system. It is noted that the apartment owner spent the morning collecting fragments of a "Grad" rocket throughout the home. There is no information about injuries resulting from this attack.
As Ukrinform previously reported, two people were injured in the Kherson region over the past day as a result of Russian aggression.
