Border guards use drone to capture Russian soldier in Kharkiv region
Ukraine's State Border Guard Service released a video of the capture, Ukrinform reports.
"The servicemen replenished the exchange fund by carrying out a complex operation to lead the enemy out using drones," the statement said.
A strike UAV crew targeted an enemy shelter. After the strike, the surviving Russian soldier came out and signaled his intention to surrender by showing a white cloth.
The UAV crew decided to spare the invader's life and guide him to Ukrainian positions.
The operation to escort the prisoner lasted about three hours.
To maintain continuous control of the route, several crews were involved, taking turns keeping drones in the air and passing on the "relay" of observation.
During the crossing, the Russian began to freeze and eat snow. Noticing this, the border guards dropped a bottle of water and chemical hand warmers from the drone so that he could reach the evacuation point.
The captive was handed over to the relevant services to be added to the exchange fund.
