UK comments on peace talks in Geneva: Some issues to be discussed in coming days
According to Sky News, Downing Street spokesperson stated this in a comment, Ukrinform reports.
According to the spokesperson, Britain says that there are some unresolved issues that will be discussed in the coming days and weeks.
The spokesperson added that the Prime Minister welcomed the significant progress achieved during yesterday's meetings between the US and Ukraine in Geneva.
When asked whether the UK would send troops to ensure the implementation of any agreement reached between Kyiv and Moscow, he said they would not "pre-empt" the ongoing negotiations.
He emphasized that the main point was that progress was being made and negotiations were continuing.
Regarding whether the Kremlin's attitude toward peace was changing, he stated that Russia continuously pretends to take peace seriously, but its actions never match its words.
He also confirmed that the UK Prime Minister's National Security Advisor, Jonathan Powell, had been in Geneva for discussions on the 28-point US peace plan.
The Guardian, citing a German official's statement to the Telegraph, writes that the foreign ministers of several European countries — including Germany, France, the United Kingdom, and Finland — met this morning with Ukraine's Foreign Minister Andriy Sybiha, although he did not specify what exactly was discussed at the meeting.
As Ukrinform reported, the European Commission welcomes the constructive progress made at the talks on possible peace in Ukraine, which took place over the weekend, but warns that there is still a lot of work ahead.
