Couple killed in Russian airstrike on Sumy region
That is according to the Sumy Regional Prosecutor's Office, as reported by Ukrinform.
"On December 11, in the village of Bilovody, Khotin community, Sumy region, law enforcement discovered the bodies of a 55-year-old man and his 65-year-old wife in the rubble of a private residence," the statement reads.
Investigators confirmed that the couple's home was completely destroyed.
Under the procedural guidance of the Sumy Regional Prosecutor's Office, a pre-trial investigation is underway regarding violations of the laws and customs of war that resulted in the loss of civilian lives (Part 2 of Article 438 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
Prosecutors, in collaboration with other law enforcement agencies, are documenting the aftermath of war crimes committed by Russian military forces.
Earlier, Ukrinform reported that on the night of December 11, Russian troops shelled Krasnopillia community in Sumy region using mortars.
