Ukraine records more than 2,500 crimes against the environment committed by Russia

As reported by an Ukrinform correspondent, this was stated by the Minister of Environmental Protection and Natural Resources of Ukraine Ruslan Strilets during the "United for Justice. United for Nature" International Conference.

"During the full-scale invasion, Russia committed more than 2,500 crimes against the environment in Ukraine. These are only those that we managed to record, and more will have to be finalized and put into the general 'basket' of losses," said Mr. Strilets.

Mr. Strilets noted that last year, the damage caused by Russia to Ukraine's environment since February 24, 2022, amounted to about 26 billion euros. According to him, as of October 20 of this year, the damage reached 55 billion euros so far.

The Minister emphasized that the Ministry of Environment continues to record losses on a daily basis and they will be included in the international register of losses.

As reported by Ukrinform, the Office of the Prosecutor General is investigating nearly 200 cases of environmental war crimes committed in Ukraine by Russia.
