Ukraine’s Defense Forces repel 30 Russian attacks in four directions

On Tuesday, Ukraine’s Defense Forces repelled 30 attacks by Russian invaders on the Lyman, Bakhmut, Avdiivka, and Marinka axes.

That’s according to the General Staff of the Armed Forces, Ukrinform reports.

"The enemy continues to wage a war of aggression at the cost of heavy losses. The main efforts are focused on conducting offensive operations on the Lyman, Bakhmut, Avdiivka, and Marinka axes. Throughout the day, nearly 30 enemy attacks have been repelled in the specified areas of the front. The fiercest battles are going on for Bakhmut and Marinka," the evening update reads.

The Russian Federation continues to ignore International Humanitarian Law, strikes and fires not only at the positions of Ukrainian troops, but also at the civilian infrastructure of populated areas, terrorizing civilians.

The aggressor carried out four missile and 44 air strikes and launched nearly 20 attacks using MLR systems on the positions of Ukrainian troops and populated areas, where civilian casualties were reported.

The likelihood of missile and air strikes being launched at Ukraine remains rather high.

According to the General Staff, the operational situation in the Volyn, Polissia, Sivershchyna, and Slobozhanshcyna directions has not changed significantly. Units of the Belarusian armed forces continue to perform tasks in the areas bordering Ukraine. Some Russian military units remain in the Belarusian territory.

The enemy maintains military presence in the Bryansk, Kursk, and Belgorod regions bordering Ukraine.

During the day, the enemy shelled the settlements of Korenyok, Boyaro-Lezhachi, Iskryskivshchyna, and Volfyne in Sumy region, as well as Veterynarne, Kozacha Lopan, Hlyboke, Vovchansk, Bochkove, Okhrimivka, and Nesterne in Kharkiv region.

Kamianka, Ridkodub, Krasne Pershe, Novomlynsk, Dvorichna, and Zapadne of Kharkiv region were hit by enemy artillery fire in the Kupiansk direction.

In the Lyman direction, the enemy tried to improve their tactical position, carrying out offensive efforts near the settlement of Dibrova, which brought no gains. Stelmakhivka, Nevske, and Bilohorivka of Luhansk region, and Ivanivka, Torske, and Spirne the Donetsk region were hit by artillery fire.

In the Bakhmut direction, the enemy continues the offensive.

Heavy fighting is going on for the town of Bakhmut. Vasyukivka, Minkivka, Orikhovo-Vasylivka, Hryhorivka, Bakhmut, Ivanivske, Chasiv Yar, Kostyantynivka, Toretsk, and New York of Donetsk region were affected by enemy shelling.

In the Avdiivka direction, the enemy carried out offensive operations in the areas of Stepove, Berdychiv, Avdiivka, Severne, and Nevelske of Donetsk region – with no success. Novokalynove, Avdiivka, Tonenke, and Pervomaiske came under enemy fire.

In the Marinka direction, Ukrainian defenders repelled numerous enemy attacks. Also, Krasnohorivka, Marinka, Pobieda, and Novomykhailivka of Donetsk region came under enemy fire.

The enemy ran no offensive operations in the Shakhtarsk direction. They shelled the settlements of Shakhtarske, Vuhledar, Novoukrainka, and Velyka Novosilka of Donetsk region.

The enemy remains on a defensive in the Zaporizhzhia and Kherson directions. The Russians shelled Novopil in Donetsk region; Olhivske, Chervone, Hulyaipole, Charivne, Orikhiv, Stepove, and Plavni in Zaporizhzhia region; Antonivka in Kherson region, and the regional center of Kherson, where civilian casualties were reported.

Ukraine’s Air Force carried out three sorties targeting enemy clusters and an anti-aircraft complex.

Rocket and artillery units hit two enemy clusters, an e-warfare station, and another “important” military facility.

As Ukrinform reported earlier, Russia’s military death toll in Ukraine as of April 18 stood at 183,130.
