President Volodymyr Zelensky has instructed to restore as many schools destroyed and damaged by Russian troops as possible by September 1.

“About 20% of schools and kindergartens across the country have been destroyed,” Deputy Head of the Office of the President Kyrylo Tymoshenko said after visiting the Spilno center to support children and families in Bucha together with UNICEF Ukraine Representative Murat Sahin on June 1, the President’s Office informs.

"We met with UNICEF officials in Ukraine and developed a preliminary plan on the UNICEF assistance in the reconstruction and restoration of schools by September 1. President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky has set a task to restore as many schools as possible by September 1," Tymoshenko said.

As noted, the institutions need to be either completely reconstructed or demolished and built from scratch. “There are schools where only windows or roofs are damaged, it can be restored in a month and a half. And there are more complex works, such as the restoration of walls and buildings. We will try to rebuild as many kindergartens and schools as possible by September 1,” said the Deputy Head of the President's Office.
