Lithuania’s public and private sectors involved in Ukraine’s energy recovery – Seimas’ Speaker
This was stated by the Speaker of the Seimas of Lithuania, Juozas Olekas, in an interview with Ukrinform.
“On Lithuania’s side, there is very close cooperation between the Ukrainian and Lithuanian energy ministers, who aim to involve not only the state sector but also the private sector. Today, we visited the Ukrainka power station, which was destroyed by Russian aggression (Trypillia TPP, located in Ukrainka, Kyiv region, was completely destroyed by a Russian strike on April 11, 2024 – ed.). Some support from various Lithuanian companies has already been allocated to this station, and efforts are being made to invite others to help rebuild or renovate it,” said Olekas.
He added that during the meetings with Ukrainian officials, the possibility of using Lithuania’s LNG terminal in Klaipėda to supply liquefied gas to Ukraine was also discussed, as gas supply is a key issue at this time.
“This topic was discussed in the Prime Minister’s office with the Minister of Energy, exploring ways to improve or utilize this possibility. One of the options is the Lithuanian Klaipeda LNG terminal,” Olekas said.
As reported by Ukrinform, the new Speaker of the Lithuanian Seimas, Juozas Olekas, arrived in Ukraine on his first official visit.
