As of the morning of January 17, the most difficult energy supply situation remains in Kyiv and the Kyiv region, where hourly blackout schedules are currently not in effect. Emergency power outages are being applied in some regions.

According to Ukrinform, the Ministry of Energy reported this on Telegram.

“The situation remains most challenging in the capital region. In Kyiv and the Kyiv region, distribution system operators are applying grid restrictions. Previously published hourly blackout schedules are currently not in effect. A return to predictable hourly outages will occur immediately after the situation in the power system stabilizes,” the statement said.

In addition, grid restrictions continue to apply in the Odesa region.

During the night of January 17, Russian attacks left some consumers without electricity in Odesa and the Kyiv regions. Despite difficult weather conditions, energy workers are operating and doing everything possible to restore power to all consumers as quickly as possible.

Consumers in frontline and border regions remain without power for prolonged periods due to hostilities. In such communities, restoring electricity supply is complicated by ongoing combat operations.

Due to severe weather, 20 settlements in the Kyiv region remain without power. Repair crews are working to restore damaged lines.

In several regions, emergency outages are being applied due to equipment overload amid high consumption during freezing temperatures. In the remaining regions, power limitation schedules for industry and hourly blackout schedules for households are in effect.

As reported, emergency power outages are being applied in Sumy region in the morning of January 17.
