First Lady: 52% of Ukrainian students require psychological intervention

Some 52% of Ukrainian students need psychological help of varying degrees of intensity.

This was announced by First Lady Olena Zelenska during a meeting with representatives from 30 higher education facilities implementing the All-Ukrainian Mental Health Program "How Are You?", Ukrinform reports.

"In February, ‘How Are You?’ ran a survey among faculties and students from 29 higher education facilities. Almost every third professor has signs of concealed burnout, 16% have signs of burnout, which manifest themselves through emotional detachment, cynicism, and frustration. Another 18% are prone to avoiding work tasks, procrastination, and loss of motivation. And only 35% believe they can cope with stress. The survey among students showed that about 52% need intervention of varying degrees of intensity," Zelenska noted.

During the event, it was reported that 97% of higher education facilities already offer psychological assistance services, 52 specialists from higher education facilities have been trained at the Academy of Mental Health, and 20 supervisors have mastered mental first aid skills.

As Ukrinform reported earlier, the All-Ukrainian Mental Health Program “How Are You?” was launched on the initiative of First Lady Olena Zelenska. It is aimed at building a high-quality system of services in the field of psychosocial support and developing a mental health awareness.
