Military personnel aged 18-24 to be able to study at universities while serving – DM

As reported by Ukrinform, Ukraine's Defense Minister Rustem Umerov announced this on Facebook.

"Service members will be able to pursue higher education without interrupting their military service," he stated.

According to Umerov, the Ministry of Defense has developed amendments to the Regulations on Military Service, allowing contract soldiers and conscripts aged 18-24 to study at higher education institutions while serving.

To do so, they will need permission from their unit commander or higher command, Umerov explained. The decision will be formalized by an order within the military unit.

The minister emphasized that this is particularly important for those enlisting under the Contract 18-24 program. These service members will have the opportunity not only to serve but also to develop professional skills, prepare for future careers – both in the military and in civilian life.

According to Umerov, the project, developed and submitted by the Ministry of Defense, has been approved by the Cabinet of Ministers and will soon be sent to the President for signature.

"It is possible to defend the homeland without giving up on your studies," the minister stressed.

As Ukrinform previously reported, the Ministry of Defense recently clarified the details of training for citizens enlisted in military service under the Contract 18-24 program.
