Solidarity rally with Ukraine gathers hundreds of people at US Embassy in Poland
Hundreds of people attended the rally to read out an appeal from Polish dissidents led by Lech Wałęsa to Donald Trump demanding security guarantees for Ukraine, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.
“For eleven years, since this war has been going on, we have been coming to this embassy to thank the Americans for their support. Today, for the first time since the beginning of the Russian aggression, we are forced to organize a protest rather than a thank-you event. Only Russia and Putin are responsible for this war. We are also here to remind the security guarantor countries that signed the Budapest Memorandum in 1994 and pledged to protect Ukraine that they must fulfill their obligations,” said Natalia Panchenko, leader of the Euromaidan Warsaw civic initiative.

Bogumil Kalmasyak, a representative of the Polish NGO Committee for the Defense of Democracy, emphasized that “the actions of the Donald Trump administration undermine American leadership in the world and destroy trust between allies.”
“Today, the United States can stand with the community of countries that respect human rights and democracy. They can also choose a different path, which will be a disaster not only for them, but for the whole world. We believe that a nation that rose up out of opposition to tyranny and love of freedom will make the only right choice,” he said.

In turn, Ukrainian actress Rimma Zyubina said that European countries and leaders who have forgotten how Russian tanks rolled through their capitals can be reminded that Putin's favorite slogan is “We can do it again.”
“They can do it again, and they will not stop in Ukraine. And Europe, of course, needs a completely new consolidation. We need to look for strong leaders of strong countries and unite. Because we have realized that no one will help Ukrainians except Ukraine, and America has not known what bombs are on its territory for a long time,” Zyubina said.

The demonstrators held flags of Ukraine and Poland, as well as posters reading “We support Zelensky,” “Help Ukraine,” “Russia is a terrorist country,” “Ukraine needs weapons,” and “We are the victims, not Russia.” At the same time, they chanted slogans: “We support Ukraine!”, ‘Glory to Ukraine - Glory to the Heroes!’, etc.
At the end of the action, the participants sang the Ukrainian anthem.
As Ukrinform reported, Polish dissidents led by former President Lech Wałęsa called the tone of the conversation between American leaders and Volodymyr Zelensky at the White House last Friday offensive to Ukrainians and called on Washington to fulfill its security obligations to Ukraine.
