Parliament passes law recognizing Ukrainian children's education abroad

Ukrinform
The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine has passed a law recognizing the educational achievements of Ukrainian citizens obtained abroad.

This was announced by Holos faction MP Yaroslav Zhelezniak on Telegram, as reported by Ukrinform.

He specified that the legislative initiative "On Amendments to Article 6 of the Law of Ukraine 'On Complete General Secondary Education' Regarding the Recognition of Learning Outcomes Obtained by Ukrainian Citizens Abroad" (No. 12375) was supported by 282 MPs.

The law formalizes the right of Ukrainian citizens to have their learning outcomes recognized, whether obtained through formal or non-formal education at educational institutions abroad — except in states recognized by the Verkhovna Rada as aggressor or occupying states.

The Cabinet of Ministers is granted the legal authority to regulate all matters related to the recognition process.

The newly adopted law will provide the government with a legal basis to develop regulations allowing for the recognition of studies completed by children who have gone abroad.

As previously reported, as of January 2025, nearly 356,000 Ukrainian children were simultaneously studying in two schools — remotely in a Ukrainian school and in person abroad.
