Despite various political statements in the U.S., most Republicans in Congress, like most American citizens, support Ukraine's fight against Russian aggression.

Michael Sawkiw, President of the Ukrainian Congress Committee of America (UCCA), said this in an interview with Ukrinform.

"I believe that despite any political rhetoric that can be heard now, the majority of Republicans still support Ukraine," he said.

He also stressed that recent polls show a high level of support for Ukraine among ordinary Americans.

"I believe that American society understands the importance of continuing assistance to Ukraine, and that Ukraine's victory aligns with the national interests of the United States," Sawkiw said.

He stressed that UCCA, along with other Ukrainian diaspora organizations in the U.S., must continue engaging with both the Republican and Democratic parties to develop strategic partnerships between the two countries.

"For us, as the Ukrainian community, there is one main goal -- to end this war and achieve peace in Ukraine, but it must be a just peace. Therefore, we will continue organizing rallies, as we have done before," Sawkiw concluded.

Last Saturday, thousands of people gathered at the Lincoln Memorial in Washington, D.C., for a large rally and march to mark the third anniversary of Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine. Participants carried blue-and-yellow flags, other Ukrainian symbols, and numerous placards calling for continued military support for the Ukrainian Armed Forces, allowing Ukraine to join NATO, stopping Russian aggression, and preserving the country's sovereignty and territorial integrity.
