Russia's planned 'peace concerts' an attempt to falsify history of its war against Ukraine – culture ministry

Ukraine's Ministry of Culture and Strategic Communications said this in a Facebook post, according to Ukrinform.

The ministry said that planning large-scale entertainment events in honor of "peace," featuring artists from around the world, just a week before the third anniversary of Russia's full-scale invasion -- while the Russian army continues to kill Ukrainian citizens -- is yet another display of cynicism.

"The organization of so-called 'peace concerts' in the aggressor country is a falsification of the history of Russia's war against Ukraine. These events will essentially mirror the ideology and style of Victory Day concerts -- glorifying the Russian army, concealing its crimes, and, most importantly, avoiding any acknowledgment of guilt or honoring the thousands who have died in Ukraine," the ministry said.

Regarding statements by 81-year-old Italian singer Al Bano, who proudly spoke about performing at four "concerts for Putin," the ministry noted that these remarks once again confirm that Al Bano is a staunch supporter of Putin's regime.

The ministry stressed that anyone who supports the aggressor, even by performing at its concerts, must be aware of the consequences of their actions and will be held accountable.

Reports have been circulating about the Kremlin's preparations for "peace concerts" featuring foreign artists. In a comment to ANSA, renowned Italian singer Al Bano confirmed that he had been invited to a "peace concert" scheduled to take place in Moscow's Red Square in late August or early September.
