The Lithuanian government has decided to allocate nearly €32 million this year to support the education of Ukrainians who arrived in the country due to the war.

As Ukrinform reports, this was announced by LRT.

The Lithuanian Ministry of Education, Science, and Sports requested €4.2 million from the government to compensate tuition fees for Ukrainian students who came due to the war and to provide them with scholarships.

Additionally, the ministry requested €28.7 million to fund the education of Ukrainian children in preschool and general education programs at municipal and private schools.

The Ministry of Finance, which submitted the draft resolution to the government, reduced the amount of allocated funds. However, the Cabinet of Ministers approved the proposal.

The allocated funds are intended for Ukrainians who enrolled in Lithuanian universities in 2022 and 2023 and are continuing their studies this year.

Since September last year, state funding is no longer available for Ukrainian students who completed their schooling in Ukraine, though some universities continue to finance their studies independently.
