Russian invaders removed the unique collection of Yukhym Harabet from Mariupol’s Museum of Medallion Art.

The Mariupol City Council said this in a Telegram post, Ukrinform reports.

The invaders are stealing the cultural heritage of Mariupol. The occupiers removed Yukhym Harabet's unique collection from Mykolaiv’s Museum of Medallion Art to Donetsk,” the report says.

The museum had more than 700 exhibits placed on 16 stands. The art works were donated to the museum by the artist's wife and people’s artist of Ukraine, Svitlana Otchenashenko-Harabet, who died in the siege of Mariupol in April 2022.

As Ukrinform reported, Russian troops have caused a major humanitarian catastrophe in Mariupol. The invaders are bombing unarmed residents and blocking humanitarian aid.

According to Mariupol Mayor Vadym Boychenko, more than 20,000 civilians have died in the city since the Russian invasion.

About 150,000 residents have been evacuated from Mariupol, besieged by the Russian occupiers since February 24, to the Ukrainian government-controlled territories
