Latvia donates EUR 25,000 to hospital in Slovyansk

The agreement between the towns of Saldus (Latvia) and Bakhmut (Donetsk region, Ukraine) was signed, and EUR 25,000 donation was made to the hospital in Slovyansk.

“Today, we have talked not only about the humanitarian cargo but about other areas of possible cooperation as well. We sign an agreement between the towns of Saldus and Bakhmut. This is a very important political step. We are working closely with the Slovyansk Town Hospital and our Government has decided to donate EUR 25,000 for the needs of this hospital,” Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Latvia to Ukraine Juris Poikāns said during the transfer of humanitarian aid to the resident of Donbas in the town of Kramatorsk on January 13, the website of the Donetsk Regional State Administration reports.

As reported, Latvia, Estonia, Sweden and Finland handed over the humanitarian aid to the residents of Donbas, including medical equipment for hospitals, on January 13. The event was attended by Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Latvia to Ukraine Juris Poikāns, Ambassador of Estonia to Ukraine Kaimo Kuusk, Ambassador of the Republic of Poland to Ukraine Bartosz Cichocki, Chief Chaplain of the National Armed Forces of the Republic of Latvia Elmārs Pļaviņš, as well as representatives of the military joint forces.
