36 temperature records set in Kyiv in 2019

In 2019, 36 temperature records were set in the city of Kyiv, the Central Geophysical Observatory named after Borys Sreznevskyi reported.

“All 12 months were warmer than the climate norm. June, with an average temperature of 23.6°C, turned out to be the warmest in record-keeping. Also, the temperature in Kyiv in December never exceeded +15°C. But in 2019, it rose to +15.2 °C on December 18,” reads the report.

On the whole, temperature records were broken 36 times in 2019, the largest number was set in June – 11 times.

The coldest day was January 9, when the minimum air temperature fell to -14.4°C, and the hottest day was August 13, when the maximum air temperature in the shade rose to + 35.0 °C.

According to the Central Geophysical Observatory, the average annual temperature in Kyiv last year rose to +10.6 °C, which is 2.9 °C higher than the climatic norm and the highest since 1881.
