Human Rights Tulip award was presented to Crimean lawyer Lilia Hemedzhy at the Embassy of the Kingdom of Netherlands in Ukraine on Thursday, December 5, on the eve of International Human Rights Day.

"Ambassador of the Netherlands to Ukraine Jennes de Mol has presented the Dutch Government's Human Rights Tulip award to me today," Hemedzhy told an Ukrinform correspondent.

According to her, the award symbolizes the solidarity of its founders with the Crimean Tatar people in the "fight against the injustice that is happening in Crimea today."

She regards the award as high appreciation of the work of the entire Crimean lawyer team.

“I regard presenting the human rights award to me as high appreciation of the work of the entire Crimean team of lawyers who deal with politically motivated cases. I believe that this award was presented in my person to all Crimean Solidarity activists and those of our human rights activists and citizen journalists who are being prosecuted today and are held in detention centers and penal colonies," Hemedzhy said.
