Saakashvili spends a night in a tent near parliament

The situation in a tent camp outside the Verkhovna Rada is calm, with most protesters currently staying in the tents, an Ukrinform correspondent has reported.

The situation in the government quarter is under control and calm. Several hundred protesters currently stay in the tent camp. 

Former Georgian president, former Odesa regional governor and leader of the Movement of New Forces party Mikheil Saakashvili spent a night in a tent specially designed for him. On Wednesday evening, Saakashvili intends to take part in a rally on Constitution Square.

Media representatives are putting up a separate tent, which will serve as a press center.

As reported, a protest rally near the Verkhovna Rada began on Tuesday, October 17. Its participants initially demanded the cancellation of bills on the removal of parliamentary immunity, the creation of an anti-corruption court and the change of electoral legislation. On October 21, the demands of the protesters were supplemented by the requirement to submit to parliament a bill on the president's impeachment.

On October 17, five people, including a police officer, were injured in clashes outside the building of the Verkhovna Rada.
