UNICEF to give up to $1 million to kindergartens and schools in Kharkiv region

Memorandum signed between an international organization "UNICEF-Ukraine" and the Department of Education and Science of the Kharkiv Regional State Administration stipulates the allocation of about $1 million for implementation of a large-scale educational project "Promoting social cohesion and integration of internally displaced persons in the east of Ukraine" in the region, first deputy chairman of regional administration Yuliya Svitlychna told journalists said, Ukrinform has reported.

"The funds will be used to form new groups in the kindergartens that saw the largest influx number in displaced persons from Donbas. About 1,500 new children will start kindergartens," said Svetlichnaya.

According to her, 63 schools of the region will obtain new sports equipment, including balls, table tennis, football goals, and basketball hoops under the UNICEF program.
