He stated that after the defeat of Viktor Orbán in Hungary, Vladimir Putin had lost his "Trojan horse in the European Union," and called on his successor, Péter Magyar, to remove Hungary's veto on assistance to Ukraine.

Barrot made the remarks on Tuesday in an interview with Radio France Internationale, Ukrinform reports.

"This is a defeat for Viktor Orbán, and also a defeat for a number of his supporters in the reactionary international community, first and foremost for Vladimir Putin, who has lost his Trojan horse in the European Union," Barrot said.

The minister added that Orbán's policy toward Ukraine had hindered support efforts, and he welcomed the removal of these "obstacles."

France also expects Péter Magyar, the election winner, to fulfill his promises – namely to restore key pillars of the rule of law that were dismantled under Orbán, return Hungary to its place among European nations, and lift a number of vetoes introduced "without any justification."

He clarified that this primarily concerns a EUR 90 billion loan for Ukraine.

As previously reported, Péter Magyar, leader of the Tisza party, supports Hungary's right to opt out of participating in the EUR 90 billion loan and opposes Ukraine's accelerated accession to the European Union.
