Zelensky: Russia’s desire to destroy Ukraine proves it does not need agreements

Russian “Shahed” drones, missiles, and the aggressor country's attempts to destroy the Ukrainian state are clear evidence that the Russian Federation does not want an agreement at all.

Volodymyr Zelensky stated this during his evening address, according to Ukrinform.

The president noted that he recently spoke with NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte, in particular, about the PURL program and Ukraine's ability to purchase missiles for air defense.

“We also discussed diplomatic efforts with the United States—Ukraine has never been and will never be an obstacle to peace. It is Russian missiles, Russian ‘Shahed’ drones, and Russian attempts to destroy Ukraine that are clear evidence that Russia does not want agreements at all,” Zelensky said.

He stressed that when Ukrainians are left without electricity for 20-30 hours because of Russia, when Russian strikes are aimed at breaking Ukraine's energy sector and the Ukrainian people, it is Russia that needs to be pressured.

“I thank everyone who supports Ukraine in this. We will be much more active in our diplomatic work — both public and official, and private and unofficial,” the head of state said.

Zelensky also reported that he had a separate conversation with Defense Minister Mykhailo Fedorov and the commander of the Air Force regarding the protection of energy facilities and Ukraine's needs.

“Today, there were again heavy strikes on Kharkiv, specifically on critical infrastructure, rocket strikes. Shahed drones were used against Kyiv in the morning and again this evening. The situation in the border regions is difficult. It is also important to strengthen the Dnipropetrovsk and Odesa regions—we will be in closer contact with our partners,” the president concluded.

As reported by Ukrinform, Volodymyr Zelensky held a meeting with the newly appointed Minister of Defense Mykhailo Fedorov. The key topics of discussion were air defense, frontline support, drone supplies, and problems with the territorial centers for recruitment and social support (TCRS).
