Zelensky nominates Fedorov for post of defense minister

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has submitted a proposal to parliament to appoint Mykhailo Fedorov as Ukraine's Minister of Defense.

This was announced by MP Yaroslav Zhelezniak on Telegram, according to Ukrinform.

“The president has nominated Mykhailo Fedorov for the post of defense minister of Ukraine,” he said, adding a photo of the relevant document.

According to him, a meeting of the Committee on National Security, Defense, and Intelligence is to take place next, “and then (as the last item) a vote in the chamber today.”

According to a Ukrinform correspondent, Verkhovna Rada Chairman Ruslan Stefanchuk announced a one-hour break in the plenary session to complete all the necessary procedures for voting on the appointment of new heads of ministries (conciliation council and meetings of relevant committees).

As reported by Ukrinform, the Verkhovna Rada supported the resignations of Defense Minister Denys Shmyhal, First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Digital Transformation Mykhailo Fedorov, and SSU Head Vasyl Maliuk.
