Stefanchuk meets with U.S. House Speaker Johnson in Ottawa

According to Ukrinform, Stefanchuk shared details of the meeting on Facebook following the second day of his working visit to Ottawa, where he is participating in the G7 Parliamentary Summit.

The Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada thanked the United States for its longstanding and consistent support of Ukraine, emphasizing its critical importance at a time when Russia continues daily missile and drone attacks aimed at breaking Ukraine’s resistance.

“We deeply appreciate the decisions made by Congress to strengthen Ukraine’s defense, as well as President Donald Trump’s determination to put an end to Russian aggression,” Stefanchuk stated.

The two sides discussed key issues ranging from achieving a just and lasting peace to securing effective security guarantees for Ukraine.

Special attention was given to the urgent need to return Ukrainian children who were unlawfully taken by Russia.

Johnson emphasized that the war in Ukraine remains one of the top priorities for the United States and is under constant focus in Washington. He affirmed America’s interest in ending the war as soon as possible and achieving lasting peace.

“The United States remains a strategic partner and a reliable friend of Ukraine. We highly value this support—it saves lives and strengthens our defense. America’s global leadership is a cornerstone of international unity and a path toward a just peace,” Stefanchuk added.

As previously reported by Ukrinform, Stefanchuk met with European Parliament President Roberta Metsola to discuss the importance of strengthening sanctions against Russia.
