Leaders of several European countries, including Poland, Germany, France, Italy, Great Britain, and Finland, will soon prepare a new statement on the upcoming talks between US President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin in Alaska.

This was announced on Tuesday at a meeting of the Polish government by Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk, according to a Ukrinform correspondent.

"In the next few hours, we will jointly prepare a European position. Deputy Prime Minister Sikorski is also preparing a draft position of our government in the context of the US-Russian talks," Tusk said, noting that this concerns Poland, Germany, France, Italy, Great Britain, and Finland, which plays a coordinating role in this matter.

According to him, it is undoubtedly in Poland's interest that Russia does not emerge victorious in this confrontation.

The Polish prime minister expressed hope that European leaders would be able to convince Trump that “Ukraine cannot lose this war and no one can pressure Ukraine on territorial concessions or other decisions that would smack of capitulation.”

“And I say this not only because solidarity with the friendly Ukrainian people, who have been attacked, requires it, but above all because it is a requirement for Poland's security. A weakened Ukraine, which has been treated unfairly, and a strong and victorious Russia are a direct and immediate threat to Poland,” Tusk stressed.

He added that Ukraine must be supported so that it does not become a victim of this war.

As reported earlier, leaders of a number of European countries and the EU also issued a statement on peace, which, in particular, states that Ukraine should receive reliable security guarantees after negotiations in which Ukraine should participate with the support of European partners.
