Demobilization bill not registered yet – MP

This was reported by Oleksandr Fedienko, a member of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on National Security, Defense, and Intelligence, in a comment to Ukrinform.

“There is no such initiative in Parliament yet. The Ministry of Defense promised to register it by March 18. We are waiting,” Fedienko noted.

Earlier, he mentioned that as of January 14, the Ministry of Defense had worked on three versions of the so-called demobilization bill. The MP pointed out that none of them directly mentioned the term "demobilization". The authors propose long-term rotation or treatment for military personnel, which could last from three to five months.

As reported by Ukrinform, on April 11, 2024, the Verkhovna Rada passed the mobilization law, which was supported by 283 members of Parliament.

The law mandates that the government (Ministry of Defense) develop a demobilization bill within eight months.

By December 18, the Ministry of Defense was supposed to prepare the relevant draft law.

On January 10, Deputy Minister of Defense Ivan Havryliuk informed that the government had already developed the demobilization bill for the martial law period and was ready to submit it to the Verkhovna Rada. However, several mechanisms need to be worked out to replace the large number of people who will be affected by the law. The Ministry of Defense requested an extension of the registration deadline for the draft law until March 18.
