After a visit to Ukraine, U.S. Senator from Arizona Mark Kelly pledged to inform U.S. politicians of the importance of supporting the embattled nation.

This was reported by Voice of America, Ukrinform saw.

As noted, on Sunday, Kelly returned from Ukraine, where he met with the military, veterans, as well as the ICRC staff.

The senator, who represents the Democratic Party, is a war veteran and former astronaut. This is his third visit to Ukraine since Russia’s full-scale invasion.

After the trip, he expressed admiration for the Ukrainian people, adding that he would inform politicians in Washington about the direct impact of the U.S. support on the ground.

"As always, I’m blown away by their resolve as they fight for their country in the face of Putin’s illegal invasion. (…) One thing is clear: No one wants this war to end more than President Zelenskyy and the Ukrainian people. But it has to end in a way that protects their sovereignty and security. The safety of Ukraine is tied to the safety of the United States, that’s why I stand with Ukraine," Kelly said, according to his press release.

It should be recalled that the U.S. president, explaining his decision to suspend military aid to Ukraine, expressed doubt over the Ukrainian side’s willingness to negotiate peace.

In turn, Volodymyr Zelensky of Ukraine said Kyiv was counting on Washington’s support on the path to peace. He stressed the Ukrainian side was trying to make its diplomacy meaningful and aimed at ending this war as soon as possible.

As Ukrinform reported earlier, Ukraine will be represented at the meeting with the American side in Saudi Arabia by the Head of the Presidential Office Andriy Yermak, his deputy Pavlo Palisa, Minister for Foreign Affairs Andrii Sybiha, and Defense Minister Rustem Umerov.

The American side will be represented in the negotiations by U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio, alongside National Security Advisor Mike Waltz and Presidential Envoy for the Middle East Steve Witkoff.
