Zelensky presents initial steps for peace at special European Council meeting
The head of state announced this on Telegram, Ukrinform reports.
"Ukraine has been seeking peace since the very first second of the war, and today I presented the first necessary steps for peace and called on partners to support them. The resilience and security of all of Europe depend on the actions of each of us. We must become stronger, more technologically advanced, and support one another. We must take care of lives right now," Zelensky wrote.

He stressed that Europe must be capable of guaranteeing peace and security for itself and those in need.
Zelensky also expressed gratitude to European Council President Antonio Costa for organizing the meeting.
"I thank all the leaders who unwaveringly support Ukraine, are determined to increase assistance and work toward achieving a real and honest peace," he said.
The European Council convened a special meeting on March 6 in Brussels, where EU heads of state and government discussed ways to bolster European defense and increase support for Ukraine. The discussions took place in the context of statements and actions from the U.S. administration regarding a reduced U.S. role in European security and military aid to Ukraine.
