Imposing peace on Ukraine under specific conditions will not lead to a long-term or sustainable resolution. To achieve a lasting and just peace, pressure must be applied to Russia rather than Ukraine.

Professor Mitat Celikpala, Dean of the Faculty of Economics, Administrative, and Social Sciences at Kadir Has University, said this in comments to Ukrinform.

In a comment to Ukrinform, Çelikpala emphasized that any peace agreement forced upon Ukraine by the U.S. or Western partners would likely be temporary and unstable.

"If Americans and Western partners impose a kind of peace on Ukraine, most probably they push Ukrainians to accept such a kind of peace. But this peace is not a lasting and just peace. This is just a peace. Then most probably when the time comes, Ukrainians try to resolve this issue again," Celikpala said.

According to him, a lasting and just peace can only be achieved when all sides accept it. At present, both Ukraine and Russia have their own visions of peace, and under current circumstances, efforts should be directed at pushing Russia toward accepting Ukraine's terms.

"Someone has to push Russians to accept such a kind of peace, not the Ukrainians. In the current circumstances, we see that they are pushing Ukrainians, not Russians. And this is the reason why I am saying that it is impossible to have such a kind of peace in a quick manner. We need time when the Ukrainian side said 'okay we can accept that level,' then it's going to be a kind of peace," the professor added.
