The President of Ukraine expressed gratitude to his French counterpart Emmanuel Macron for his efforts to achieve peace in the ongoing war.

Volodymyr Zelensky stated this on X, Ukrinform reports.

"I am grateful to Emmanuel Macron for his clear vision and our joint efforts to achieve peace. Peace must be real, not just a word—it cannot mean Ukraine’s capitulation or collapse," the President noted.

According to the Head of State, peace must be just, reliable, and lasting, and this can only be achieved through strong and long-term security guarantees for Ukraine, Europe, and the entire world.

"We deeply appreciate the leadership and efforts of all those supporting Ukraine and strengthening Europe’s defense capabilities. Looking forward to working jointly on the steps toward peace in the upcoming days," Zelensky stressed.

As Ukrinform reported earlier, Macron announced a meeting in Paris next week of the chiefs of staff of nations that are willing to assume responsibility for implementing the plan for a strong and lasting peace drafted together with the Ukrainians.
