Sybiha ahead of Brussels summit: We anticipate strong EU steps in support of Ukraine
Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha shared this message on social media platform X, Ukrinform reports.
"We anticipate new strong EU steps in support of Ukraine, which will strengthen our warriors, increase our defense capabilities, and scale up our defense industry," Sybiha stated.
He said that resolute EU steps, together with increased pressure on Russia, could put Ukraine in a stronger position, bring a fair peace closer, and strengthen indivisible transatlantic security.
"With guaranteed security, Ukraine will be Europe's key force for lasting peace and development," Sybiha said.
The minister reiterated that peace remains Ukraine's number one priority.
"Ukraine wants a fair and long-lasting peace more than anyone else in the world. We continue to work with all of our partners to achieve this goal. America's engagement is critical and decisive to the success of peace efforts," he added.
The special European Council meeting in Brussels on March 6 will see EU heads of state and government discussing ways to strengthen European defense and increase support for Ukraine. This comes amid statements and actions from the U.S. administration indicating a reduced role in European security and military aid to Ukraine.
