Trump says Ukraine mineral deal "not dead"
He made the statement to journalists at the White House, as reported by a Ukrinform correspondent.
"No, I don't think so," Trump replied when asked if the deal on Ukrainian minerals was “dead”.
According to him, "We are getting that (money spent on aid to Ukraine – ed.) back, along with a lot of other things."
The U.S. President pointed out that Ukraine’s rare earth metals are important for business in the U.S., including the production of microchips.
Trump also noted that he is currently preparing his address to Congress about the state of affairs in the country, which he will deliver on Tuesday. The topic of the agreement on Ukrainian rare earth minerals will be part of this speech.
As reported by Ukrinform, President Volodymyr Zelensky stated on Monday that Ukraine is working together with the U.S. and European partners and is very much counting on U.S. support on the path to peace.
