Zelensky discusses ensuring lasting peace in Ukraine with leaders of Baltic states
The Ukrainian head of state shared this information on Telegram, as reported by Ukrinform.
"I had a productive conversation with our Baltic friends: President of Lithuania Gitanas Nausėda, President of Latvia Edgars Rinkēvičs, and Prime Minister of Estonia Kristen Michal. I informed them about yesterday’s summit in London. Together, we must develop an action plan that will bring us closer to real security guarantees. There are concrete initiatives, and we will work on them," Zelensky wrote.
Zelensky stressed the importance of unity among all partners to end the war as soon as possible and achieve a lasting and reliable peace.
"Ukraine, Europe, the U.S. – only together can we restore security for all our people, and this is truly possible," he emphasized.
The President also expressed gratitude for the ongoingsupport and new defense aid packages, which will help protect Ukrainian lives.
According to the Office of the President of Ukraine, the Baltic leaders reaffirmed their commitment to a common European vision and coordinated actions to restore security in Ukraine. They also confirmed their readiness to continue military assistance and to prepare new defense aid packages.
Latvian President Edgars Rinkēvičs noted on X that the discussion focused on “further steps to achieve a just and lasting peace in Ukraine, the importance to work on European engagement and to preserve transatlantic bond”.
Lithuanian President Gitanas Nausėda emphasized that Ukraine’s security is crucial for the entire region. He insisted that Ukraine must participate in any peace talks from a position of strength, which requires active European engagement and coordinated efforts.
Estonian Prime Minister Kristen Michal highlighted that following the London meeting and ahead of the European Council summit, it was extremely useful to discuss the next steps.
"More support and credible security guarantees for Ukraine. More pressure on Russia. We stand by this both within the EU and the transatlantic alliance," he stated.
As previously reported by Ukrinform, an international meeting on supporting Ukraine took place in London on March 2.
