In a phone call, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky and Prime Minister of Canada Justin Trudeau discussed the situation on the battlefield and the threat posed by Russian occupation troops at Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant (NPP).

The relevant statement was made by President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky on Telegram, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

“I held the first of a series of important phone calls – with Prime Minister of Canada Justin Trudeau. I’m grateful to him for his recent visit to Kyiv and to Canada and all Canadians for their continued support of Ukraine,” Zelensky wrote.

The President of Ukraine spoke about the current situation on the battlefield and shared Ukrainian assessments of the attempted coup in Russia and its impact on the course of hostilities.

Additionally, Zelensky drew Trudeau’s attention to the threatening situation created by Russian occupation troops at Zaporizhzhia NPP.

“The world’s insufficient reaction to Russia’s blowing up of the Kakhovka hydroelectric power plant dam and the attempt to blow up the dam at the Kryvyi Rih reservoir allows the occupiers to prepare a terrorist attack with radiation leakage at the ZNPP,” Zelensky stressed.

The Head of State expressed confidence that Ukraine’s partners should demonstrate a principled response, in particular at the NATO Summit in Vilnius.
