Biden to discuss Ukraine with Brazilian president, Indian PM

U.S. President Joe Biden intends to talk this weekend with Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi about Ukraine.

That's according to Reuters, citing a statement by US National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan, Ukrinform reports.

Lula and Modi are participating in the Group of Seven (G7) summit in Hiroshima at the invitation of Japan, which is hosting the G7 this year.

Commenting on a question about the readiness of the US president to apply pressure to urge the two leaders to toughen their approach to China and Russia, Sullivan replied:

"I think pressure is just the wrong word. I mean, that's not how President Biden operates with these key leaders with whom he has deep relationships, like President Lula and President Modi," Sullivan said.

Instead, Biden will look for opportunities to talk to both of them about the constructive role that each country can play to uphold the sovereignty and territorial integrity that is sacred in the (UN) Charter, Sullivan told reporters in Hiroshima.
