President on winter preparations: Ukraine must build reserves to ensure people have what they need
President Volodymyr Zelensky made this statement in an evening video address, according to a Ukrinform correspondent.
"Repair and restoration work is already underway in all regions. We are working on both alternative power generation and expanding energy partnerships with our partners. In every city in Ukraine—including Kyiv, where winter was very difficult, and our other cities—every community must have a reserve: everything needed to ensure people have electricity and heating no matter how events unfold," Zelensky noted.
He expressed his conviction that Ukraine’s resilience under such conditions, Ukraine’s strength on the front lines, and Ukraine’s responses to Russian strikes are also pushing the aggressor toward diplomacy.
“I have scheduled a broad meeting for this Friday with government officials, military personnel, representatives of local authorities—our communities—and representatives of Ukraine’s energy companies, so that where there are currently delays in the work schedule, where additional funding is needed, and where additional power generation projects are required—decisions can be made,” the President stated.
He assured that if a meeting of the National Security and Defense Council (NSDC) is needed, it will be held.
“If personnel decisions are required, we will make them. Responsibility for preparing for winter is a personal responsibility,” Zelensky stated.
In addition, the Head of State discussed the operations of state-owned companies with Prime Minister Yuliia Svyrydenko.
"There will be changes. Some state-owned companies are still not operating in the public interest or for the state budget. The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine and the companies themselves must rectify this," the President stated.
As reported by Ukrinform, following discussions with Svyrydenko on certain personnel issues, particularly within state-owned companies, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky announced personnel decisions at the state-owned enterprise “Forests of Ukraine.”
