Spain's decision to transfer air defense systems to Ukraine very important to us – Zelensky

According to Ukrinform, Zelensky said this during a meeting with Minister for Foreign Affairs, European Union and Cooperation of the Kingdom of Spain José Manuel Albares Bueno.

“I am grateful to Spain for its important humanitarian support, including today's delivery of 30 modern ambulance vehicles,” Zelensky noted.

He also thanked for the warm reception of Ukrainians who were forced to leave our country because of the war.

“Now the number one issue is the creation of an air shield to protect our critical and civilian infrastructure. Therefore, Spain's decision to transfer air defense systems to Ukraine is really important for us,” the President said.

According to the president’s press service, the sides discussed current issues of European and Euro-Atlantic integration of Ukraine. Zelensky noted that Ukraine is counting on certain steps on the path to the EU during Spain's presidency of the Council of the European Union in the second half of 2023.

It is noted that during the meeting, the sides paid attention to the issue of restoring Ukraine's energy infrastructure after the latest wave of missile attacks by Russia. The President thanked for the generators provided by Spain and noted the need for additional help from partners to restore uninterrupted power supply. He also expressed hope that Spain will actively participate in the reconstruction of Ukraine.
