Nothing new in Biden's appeal to U.S. citizens to leave Ukraine - Kuleba
Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba said this at a briefing in Kharkiv on Friday, February 11, according to an Ukrinform correspondent.
"There is nothing new in this [President Biden's] statement. We know the position of the United States, which has already made such statements. They started with the evacuation of family members and embassy staff. Therefore, this statement does not indicate that the situation has changed dramatically," Kuleba said.
In an interview with NBC News, Biden called on American citizens to leave Ukraine now, as "things could go crazy quickly."
The State Department on February 10 issued an advisory warning that the U.S. government "will not be able to evacuate U.S. citizens in the event of Russian military action anywhere in Ukraine."
On January 24, the State Department allowed the U.S. Embassy in Ukraine and U.S. citizens to leave home voluntarily and ordered the evacuation of the families of diplomats from Ukraine.
