Britain’s Johnson warns Kremlin against “armed adventurism” on border with Ukraine

Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, Boris Johnson, said that a possible large-scale invasion of Russian troops into Ukraine would be “a tragic, tragic mistake” for the Kremlin.

The statement came on Wednesday as Johnson was speaking with British legislators, Ukrinform reports referring to The Guardian.

"It would be ‘a tragic, tragic mistake’ for the Kremlin to think anything could be gained by military adventurism,” the report said, citing Johnson as saying in response to questions about possible British aid to Poland and Ukraine.

Johnson also noted in this regard that Poland, as a NATO member, has a security guarantee from the Alliance, while Ukraine has no such option.

However, according to the prime minister, it is important that all parties “understand the cost” of a miscalculation in the situation regarding the amassing of Russian forces on the Ukrainian border.

As Ukrinform reported earlier, British Defense Secretary Ben Wallace visited Kyiv where he met with his Ukrainian counterpart. Ukraine’s officials described the visit as "another stage of bilateral cooperation to increase Ukraine's defense capabilities and develop interoperability."
