Representatives of the Lublin Triangle countries have agreed to coordinate steps on border security, the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry has reported.

According to the report, an online meeting of the national coordinators of the Lublin Triangle countries was initiated by the Ukrainian side.

The deputy foreign ministers of Ukraine, Poland and Lithuania, Mykola Tochytskyi, Marcin Przydacz and Mantas Adomenas, exchanged views on recent developments in the region and discussed the escalation of the migration crisis on the Polish-Belarusian border.

Tochytskyi informed his interlocutors about measures being taken by Ukraine to strengthen the security of its border with Belarus and about the security situation in the temporarily occupied territories and the eastern part of the Ukrainian border.

"The diplomats agreed to coordinate actions within the Lublin Triangle in order to effectively counter the existing risks and threats to the security of the three states and Europe as a whole," the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry said.

The migration crisis on the EU-Belarus border has been going on since late June. Poland and the Baltic states have accused Belarus and Russia of hybrid aggression by manufacturing a migrant crisis.

Several thousand migrants have set up camps on the Polish-Belarusian border and periodically try to break through the barriers.

Some 3,000-4,000 migrants currently stay on the Polish-Belarusian border, and there are up to 20,000 migrants in Belarus.
