The dismissal of Ukraine's ambassadors to the UAE, the Netherlands, Belgium, Iraq, Thailand, Saudi Arabia and representative to the UN Office in Geneva was conducted as part of the planned rotation of staff, according to Spokesman for the Ministry for Foreign Affairs Oleh Nikolenko.

He explained that in the Ukrainian diplomatic service, the heads of diplomatic missions work in one country for about five years.

"Some of these ambassadors have exceeded the term of work abroad several times. The decision on the dismissal and appointment of new ambassadors is made by the President of Ukraine on the proposal of the Minister for Foreign Affairs. Such a procedure was followed this time as well,”  Nikolenko said.

He added that the Ministry for Foreign Affairs is grateful to ambassadors for their professionalism and efforts to protect national interests, strengthen relations between Ukraine and foreign countries and international organizations, and assured that they remain part of the diplomatic service and will continue to work for the state.

As reported, on April 6, President Volodymyr Zelensky dismissed six ambassadors of Ukraine and the Permanent Representative of Ukraine to the UN Office.
